Government Orders Inquiry into Alleged Irregularities in TTD Ghee Procurement
In connection with the recent controversy surrounding alleged adulteration of ghee used in the preparation of Tirumala laddus, the government has constituted a one-man committee to conduct a detailed investigation.
The committee will be headed by retired IAS officer Dinesh Kumar, who has been entrusted with examining the alleged irregularities in the ghee procurement process of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
Focus on Tender Process
The inquiry will specifically study the procedures followed in awarding tenders for ghee procurement, identify any lapses, and determine whether established norms were violated.
Authorities have directed the committee to submit its report within 45 days. The findings are expected to clarify whether there were administrative shortcomings or procedural deviations in the tender process.
Background of the Issue
The issue gained attention after concerns were raised regarding the quality of ghee supplied for preparing the world-famous Tirumala laddus. Given the religious and cultural significance of the prasadam, the matter drew widespread public interest.
The government’s decision to appoint a single-member committee signals the seriousness with which it is addressing the allegations and ensuring transparency in the procurement system.
Next Steps
Based on the committee’s recommendations, corrective measures and accountability actions may follow. Officials stated that maintaining quality standards and safeguarding devotees’ trust remain top priorities.
The final report, expected within the stipulated timeframe, will determine further administrative and policy-level decisions.
