Kokapet Land Issue: CM Revanth Reddy Orders Sharada Peetham Land to Remain with the Institution
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to ensure that the land originally allotted to Sharada Peetham in Kokapet, Hyderabad continues to remain with the religious institution. The decision came after representatives of the Peetham raised concerns regarding the allocation of the land to the Hyderabad Water Board (Jal Mandali).
The Peetham representatives reportedly informed the Chief Minister about the ongoing construction works and developments already taking place on the land, prompting the government to review the matter urgently.
High-Level Review at the Secretariat
Following the representation, the Chief Minister convened a high-level meeting with senior officials at the Telangana State Secretariat. During the review meeting, he examined the current status of construction activities being carried out under the Sharada Peetham on the Kokapet land.
Officials presented details about the developments on the site, including structures that have already been initiated by the institution. The Chief Minister sought clarity on how the land had been allocated to the Water Board despite these ongoing works.
CM Expresses Displeasure Over Allocation
During the meeting, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed displeasure over the manner in which the land was reportedly reassigned to the Water Board without properly considering the existing construction work undertaken by Sharada Peetham.
He questioned why the current status of the land and ongoing developments were not clearly presented before making such allocation decisions.
Allocation to Water Board Cancelled
After reviewing the matter, the Chief Minister directed officials to cancel the allocation made to the Water Board and ensure that the land continues to remain under the control of Sharada Peetham.
The decision effectively restores the land rights to the religious institution, allowing it to proceed with its construction and development plans without further administrative hurdles.
Sharada Peetham Representatives Asked to Meet Minister
The Chief Minister also advised the representatives of Sharada Peetham to meet Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu and provide a detailed explanation regarding the ongoing constructions and related developments on the land.
Officials indicated that further administrative steps would be taken to formalize the decision and ensure there are no future disputes regarding the ownership and use of the Kokapet land.
Background of the Issue
Kokapet, located on the outskirts of Hyderabad, has emerged as a high-value development zone over the past decade, with several institutional and infrastructure projects being planned in the region. Land allocation matters in the area often attract significant administrative scrutiny due to rapid urban development.
The government’s latest decision ensures that previously allotted land for Sharada Peetham remains intact and that the institution can continue its projects as originally planned.
