Compensation Handed Over to Families of Madinah Bus Accident Victims by Telangana CM Revanth Reddy
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy handed over financial assistance to families of victims who lost their lives in a tragic bus accident near Madinah in Saudi Arabia. The compensation cheques were distributed during a meeting held at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat in Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister personally met the affected families and assured them that the state government would stand by them during this difficult time. He emphasized that the government invited the families to the Secretariat to offer support directly and express solidarity.
Financial Assistance for Victims' Families
As part of the relief measures, the Telangana government provided ₹5 lakh compensation to each family of the deceased and ₹3 lakh to the family of the injured victim.
The accident occurred on November 17, 2025, near Madinah in Saudi Arabia, when a bus carrying pilgrims reportedly met with a devastating accident. The incident resulted in the deaths of 44 residents from Hyderabad, many of whom were reportedly traveling for religious purposes.
Immediate Government Response
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy recalled that the government responded immediately after receiving information about the accident. A delegation led by Minority Welfare Minister Azharuddin was sent to Madinah to coordinate relief efforts.
Authorities arranged emergency passports and visas for family members of the victims so they could travel to Saudi Arabia without delay. The Telangana government also coordinated with the Indian Consulate and Saudi authorities to ensure smooth procedures for the victims' families.
Funeral Arrangements in Madinah
The Chief Minister noted that with the cooperation of Saudi authorities and Indian diplomatic officials, the deceased were laid to rest in the historic Jannat-ul-Baqi cemetery in Madinah. The process was carried out with due religious and official arrangements.
Humanitarian Approach by the Government
Revanth Reddy stated that although governments usually do not provide compensation for incidents occurring outside the country, the Telangana government decided to extend support on humanitarian grounds.
He emphasized that the state administration believes in standing with citizens during times of tragedy regardless of where the incident takes place. The Chief Minister also mentioned that the government had earlier provided compensation to families affected by the Nampally fire accident.
CM Recalls Personal Association with Muslim Community
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also spoke about his long-standing association with the Muslim community. He recalled that since being elected as the Kodangal MLA in 2009, he has personally sponsored the Haj pilgrimage for five people every year from the five mandals in his constituency.
According to him, the selection of pilgrims for the journey is handled by local religious leaders, ensuring fairness and community participation in the process.
Leaders Present at the Event
Several leaders and officials attended the compensation distribution program, including Minority Welfare Minister Azharuddin, government advisors Vem Narendra Reddy and Mohammed Shabbir Ali, Nampally MLA Majid Hussain, Haj Committee Chairman Khusro Pasha, TGMREIS Vice Chairman Faheem Qureshi, and Telangana Minority Finance Corporation Chairman Obedullah Kotwal.
Officials from various departments also participated in the event, reaffirming the government's commitment to supporting families affected by the tragedy.
