Telangana to Develop Ring Roads Around Major District Headquarters

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to prepare comprehensive plans for constructing ring roads around all major district headquarters across the state. The initiative aims to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion in urban centers, and enhance transportation efficiency for goods vehicles.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while reviewing the progress of the Roads and Buildings Department during a high-level meeting attended by senior officials and Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.

Reducing Traffic Congestion in District Centers

According to the Chief Minister, the development of ring roads will play a crucial role in controlling the movement of heavy vehicles entering district headquarters. By diverting large transport vehicles outside city limits, the government aims to reduce congestion within towns and improve overall road safety.

Ring roads will also help facilitate faster movement of freight and commercial vehicles, allowing them to bypass densely populated areas while maintaining efficient transport connectivity.

Utilizing Existing Road Infrastructure

During the review meeting, the Chief Minister suggested that wherever possible, existing road networks located near district headquarters should be integrated to form ring road corridors. This approach will reduce construction costs while enabling faster implementation of the project.

Officials were instructed to conduct detailed studies and identify potential routes that can be connected to create continuous ring road networks around major district towns.

Linking Ring Roads with National Highways

The Chief Minister also asked officials to examine the feasibility of linking the proposed district ring roads with National Highways. Such connectivity would improve logistics and strengthen regional transportation networks across Telangana.

By connecting district ring roads to national highways, long-distance goods vehicles can travel more efficiently without entering urban traffic zones.

Greenfield Road Proposal to Nagarjuna Sagar

In addition to the ring road initiative, the Chief Minister instructed officials to study the construction of a Greenfield road corridor connecting the Hyderabad–Vijayawada Expressway to Nagarjuna Sagar.

If implemented, the new corridor could significantly improve travel connectivity between these key regions and support tourism as well as economic activity in the area.

Completion of ROB and RUB Projects

The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) and Railway Under Bridges (RUBs) currently under construction across the state. He directed officials to ensure that these projects are completed without delays.

ROBs and RUBs play a crucial role in eliminating railway crossings, reducing traffic congestion, and improving road safety. The government is also planning to identify locations where additional bridges may be required and prepare proposals accordingly.

Focus on Public Infrastructure Development

Apart from road infrastructure, the Chief Minister instructed officials to accelerate the construction of teaching hospitals and other major healthcare facilities currently under development in various districts.

He emphasized that timely completion of such infrastructure projects is essential to strengthen public services and support regional development across Telangana.

Officials Present at the Review Meeting

The review meeting was attended by Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy along with senior officials from the Roads and Buildings Department and other government agencies responsible for infrastructure development.

The government believes that the proposed ring road network and related infrastructure initiatives will play a major role in improving transportation efficiency, supporting economic growth, and enhancing connectivity across Telangana.
