Nara Lokesh Reviews Midday Meal Scheme, Orders Strict Quality Monitoring

Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh conducted a telephonic review meeting with education department officials regarding the implementation and quality of the Midday Meal Scheme in government schools across the state.

During the review, the minister emphasized that ensuring the quality and safety of food served to students should be treated as a top priority.

Teachers Must Check Food Before Serving

Lokesh directed officials that once the meal is prepared, a teacher must taste the food first every day to ensure its quality. Only after confirming that the food is safe and of good quality should it be served to students.

This measure is intended to maintain strict quality control and prevent any lapses in the food served under the scheme.

Centralized Kitchen System to Be Implemented

The minister also instructed officials to establish a centralized kitchen system on a war-footing basis. This system aims to standardize food preparation, improve hygiene, and ensure consistent quality in meals served to students.

MLAs Asked to Monitor Scheme in Schools

To improve transparency and accountability, Nara Lokesh requested that MLAs visit at least one school in their constituency every week and share the midday meal with students.

This initiative is expected to help public representatives directly assess the quality of food and the implementation of the program.

Parents Can Submit Feedback Through LEAP App

The minister also urged parents to actively participate in monitoring the scheme by submitting complaints and feedback through the LEAP mobile application. This platform allows parents to report issues related to food quality, hygiene, and meal distribution.

Strict Warning Against Negligence

The midday meal program is being implemented in the state under the prestigious name of Apara Annapurnamma Dokka Seethamma, and the minister made it clear that any negligence in the scheme will not be tolerated.

Lokesh further directed officials to take strict action against individuals spreading false propaganda about the scheme for personal or political interests.

The government reiterated that the program is designed to ensure that students receive nutritious meals while encouraging regular school attendance and improving overall student welfare.
