Telangana to Partner with Harvard for Executive Classes: CM Revanth Reddy’s Vision for Administrative Excellence
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the State Government will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Harvard University to conduct executive education programs for senior government officials. The proposed program will be held in Hyderabad in collaboration with Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute (MCRHRDI).
The Chief Minister made the announcement while addressing newly recruited Group I and Group II officers who successfully completed their foundation course at MCRHRDI.
Harvard Executive Education in Hyderabad
According to the Chief Minister, Harvard University has, in principle, agreed to partner with MCRHRDI to conduct executive education programs within the State. The initiative aims to strengthen administrative capabilities and expose senior officials to global best practices in governance, policy formulation, and leadership.
The collaboration is expected to enhance institutional capacity and bring international academic expertise directly to Telangana’s administrative framework.
Congratulating Newly Recruited Officers
A total of 271 Group I officers and 175 Group II officers recently completed their foundation training at MCRHRDI. During the event, the Chief Minister interacted with the officers and reviewed a photo exhibition prepared by the trainees, highlighting their learning experiences and field visits conducted as part of the program.
He congratulated all successful candidates and acknowledged their dedication in clearing competitive examinations after years of preparation.
Message on Responsible Governance
Addressing the officers, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of integrity and responsibility in public service. He urged them to perform their duties with accountability and to remember the values of social justice while implementing government policies.
He advised officers to apply both procedural understanding and common sense in decision-making, stating that laws and regulations are meant to enable public service, not obstruct it. The goal, he said, should always be to maximize public benefit.
From Aspirants to Public Representatives
Highlighting their journey, the Chief Minister remarked that the officers were students and job aspirants until recently, and are now representatives of the Telangana Government responsible for delivering governance to nearly four crore citizens.
He stressed that policy decisions gain public recognition only when implemented with sincerity at the field level. Officers, he said, serve as the eyes and ears of the government.
Public Service Commission Reforms
Referring to recruitment delays in previous years, the Chief Minister noted that Group I examinations had not been conducted after 2011 until recently. He stated that the present government restructured and strengthened the Public Service Commission to ensure transparent recruitment.
He also mentioned that despite legal challenges and allegations regarding recruitment, the government defended the merit-based selection process and stood by the candidates in court proceedings.
Commitment Over a 30-Year Career
The Chief Minister observed that earning recognition as a dedicated officer requires consistent service over 30 to 35 years. The initiative and integrity shown during service, he said, determine how effectively government schemes reach citizens.
He expressed confidence that officers trained at MCRHRDI would uphold the reputation of the Telangana Government and maintain professional standards throughout their careers.
Social Responsibility and Family Values
In a personal message, the Chief Minister reminded officers to take care of their parents who supported their educational journeys. He reiterated that the government is considering legislation that would ensure parental welfare, including potential provisions to directly support parents if neglected.
He concluded by encouraging officers to remain committed, disciplined, and ethically grounded throughout their service, reinforcing that public administration is not merely employment but a lifelong responsibility to society.
A Vision for Administrative Transformation
The proposed Harvard collaboration marks a strategic effort to elevate governance standards in Telangana by integrating global academic expertise into state-level administration. By investing in executive education and leadership training, the government aims to prepare officers for evolving administrative challenges in a rapidly changing socio-economic environment.
If formalized, the MoU with Harvard University could position Telangana as one of the few Indian states to institutionalize international executive training within its governance framework.
