CM Revanth Reddy Directs Zero-Tolerance Policy on Urban Cleanliness in CURE Region
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has issued strict instructions to officials to prioritize sanitation across the Telangana Core Urban Region (CURE), covering Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri municipal corporations. Emphasizing accountability, the Chief Minister warned that garbage visible anywhere in the city would not be tolerated.
He made it clear that he would personally conduct field inspections to assess cleanliness standards and directed municipal commissioners to begin ground-level inspections as early as 6:00 AM daily.
High-Level Review at Secretariat
The Chief Minister chaired a comprehensive review meeting on Municipal Administration and Urban Development at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat. During the meeting, he evaluated policies aimed at increasing advertisement revenue within the three municipal corporations and provided key strategic suggestions.
Smart Poles and Multi-Level Parking Plans
Revanth Reddy instructed officials to examine the installation of smart poles at major city junctions. These poles would integrate electrical lines, other utility cables, CCTV cameras, and advertisement boards in a streamlined manner.
He also directed authorities to explore the feasibility of developing multi-level parking facilities on private lands in selected city zones. Specific attention was given to assessing potential sites along Necklace Road for parking infrastructure expansion.
Advertisement Revenue Under Scrutiny
The Chief Minister questioned why expected revenue was not being realized despite the presence of numerous advertisement boards across the city. He asked officials to benchmark Hyderabad’s advertisement revenue against cities like Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru.
Strict action was ordered against advertisers undermining government revenue. Additionally, he suggested reserving 10% of advertisement boards for public welfare and government scheme promotions.
Unified Streetlight Monitoring and Park Development
Revanth Reddy instructed that a Unicode-based system be implemented for streetlight management not only in the three corporations but across all urban bodies in the state. He also emphasized focused monitoring of park maintenance and development.
Training for Newly Elected Urban Representatives
The Chief Minister directed officials to organize a one-day training program for newly elected Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Chairpersons, and Deputy Chairpersons. The program will comprehensively outline strategies for urban development and governance reforms.
Officials in Attendance
The meeting was attended by CM Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, CM Secretary Manik Raj, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, and municipal commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri—R.V. Karnan, Srijana, and Vinay Krishna Reddy—along with senior officials.
Conclusion
With a renewed focus on sanitation, structured revenue generation, smart infrastructure integration, and governance reforms, the Telangana government is aiming to transform the CURE urban region into a more efficient and accountable urban ecosystem. The Chief Minister’s directives signal a results-oriented approach toward urban modernization and transparency.
