Chandrababu Naidu Launches HPV Vaccination Program for 14-Year-Old Girls in Cheepurupalli
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday launched a statewide HPV vaccination program aimed at protecting adolescent girls from cervical cancer. The program was formally inaugurated at the Community Health Centre in Cheepurupalli, located in Vizianagaram district.
The initiative focuses on providing the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to girls aged 14 years across the state as part of the government’s preventive healthcare strategy.
Statewide Health Initiative for Adolescent Girls
The HPV vaccine plays a crucial role in preventing infections caused by the human papillomavirus, which is one of the primary causes of cervical cancer among women. Through this campaign, the Andhra Pradesh government aims to raise awareness about preventive healthcare while expanding access to life-saving vaccines for young girls.
Officials from the health department stated that the vaccination drive will gradually be implemented across districts, ensuring that eligible students in schools and health centres receive the vaccine.
Interaction with Students
During the launch event, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu interacted with schoolgirls and spoke about the importance of health awareness and preventive care. He encouraged students to prioritize health and education while highlighting the role of government initiatives in safeguarding the wellbeing of young citizens.
The Chief Minister also emphasized that investing in the health of adolescents is essential for building a stronger and healthier society.
Officials and Leaders Present
Several ministers and public representatives attended the event alongside health officials. Among those present were ministers Satya Kumar Yadav, Anitha, and Srinivas. Member of Parliament Appalanaidu and local MLA Kalavenkatrao also participated in the programme.
District Collector and senior officials from the Medical and Health Department were present to oversee the launch and ensure the smooth implementation of the vaccination campaign.
Focus on Preventive Healthcare
The HPV vaccination drive forms part of the broader public health initiatives undertaken by the Andhra Pradesh government. Health authorities believe that early vaccination and awareness can significantly reduce the long-term risk of cervical cancer.
The program is expected to reach thousands of adolescent girls across the state through coordinated efforts between schools, healthcare institutions, and local administrations.
