Pension Issue Resolved for Disabled Man in Kavali

A long-pending pension issue faced by a mentally disabled man from Kavali has been resolved following intervention from the office of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The issue, which remained unresolved for nearly ten years, was linked to Aadhaar biometric authentication failure caused by the man’s medical condition.

Background of the Case

The beneficiary, identified as S K Renaj, reportedly lost access to his disability pension almost a decade ago when biometric authentication linked to Aadhaar could not be completed due to his mental condition. Despite repeated attempts by family members, the pension could not be restored through routine administrative processes.

Over the years, the family faced financial hardship, relying on limited support while continuing to seek a resolution through local offices.

Public Appeal Brings Attention

The issue gained wider attention after a YouTube video posted on January 25 by content creator Adi Reddy. The video documented the family’s situation and appealed for manual verification, tagging senior officials including the Deputy Chief Minister.

The video highlighted the challenges faced by the family and the prolonged delay in resolving a case involving a vulnerable beneficiary.

Intervention by Deputy CM’s Office

On the same day the video was shared, the office of Pawan Kalyan responded to the appeal. Officials coordinated with the local administration and directed immediate action to address the issue.

As part of the intervention, the Municipal Commissioner visited the beneficiary’s residence to complete biometric verification manually, ensuring that procedural barriers were addressed.

Pension Restoration Process

Following the completion of verification, officials informed the family that the pension restoration process had been initiated. Authorities indicated that pending pension payments are expected to be credited within 20 days, subject to completion of formal procedures.

Family’s Response

Relatives of the beneficiary expressed gratitude after the issue was resolved. In follow-up videos, family members stated that the swift response brought relief after years of uncertainty and renewed their confidence in administrative support systems.

Broader Significance

The case has drawn attention to challenges faced by persons with disabilities in accessing welfare benefits when biometric systems fail. Officials noted that alternative verification mechanisms are essential to ensure that vulnerable individuals are not excluded from government support.

Authorities stated that similar cases requiring manual intervention would be reviewed to prevent prolonged delays in welfare delivery.
