BRS Condemns Police Action Against Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy During Sammakka Jatara Visit

BRS condemns the police action that stopped Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy from visiting the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara. Party leaders call.
Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy Sammakka Jatara Incident

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi has strongly condemned the action of the police in stopping Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy while he was on his way to attend the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara. The incident has triggered a sharp response from party leaders in Karimnagar district, who described the move as inappropriate and against established democratic norms.

According to party representatives, the MLA was traveling to the Jatara along with his family members when he was reportedly stopped by police personnel. The Sammakka Saralamma Jatara, one of the most significant tribal and religious gatherings in the region, was being held in Veenavanka mandal, which falls within the MLA’s own constituency.

District Party Condemnation

The BRS Karimnagar district unit issued a formal statement condemning the incident. District president GV Ramakrishna Rao stated that it is a fundamental responsibility of an elected public representative to attend public, religious, and cultural events, particularly those held within their own constituency.

He emphasized that the Sammakka Jatara provides an important platform for public representatives to interact directly with people, understand local issues, and convey concerns to the relevant authorities. Preventing an MLA from attending such an event, he said, undermines the role entrusted to elected representatives by the people.

Concerns Over Constitutional Protocol

GV Ramakrishna Rao further stated that the party believes the action taken against the MLA does not align with constitutional rights and established protocol. He noted that public representatives must be allowed to discharge their duties without unnecessary obstruction, especially when their presence is related to public engagement.

The district leadership stressed that cooperation between administrative authorities and elected representatives is essential for smooth governance. Any disruption to this relationship, they warned, could impact public confidence.

Call for Review and Accountability

The BRS district president urged the concerned authorities to review the incident and ensure that such situations do not recur in the future. He stated that respecting the responsibilities of elected representatives is crucial in a democratic system.

He also called on officials to exercise restraint and ensure that actions taken on the ground do not interfere with the lawful duties of MLAs and other public representatives.

Political Context

The incident has drawn attention amid heightened political activity surrounding major religious and cultural events in Telangana. Party leaders maintain that attendance at such gatherings is not only customary but also an integral part of constituency representation.

As of now, there has been no official statement from the police regarding the reasons behind stopping the MLA.
