Telangana Police Must Prepare for Future Challenges, Says CM Revanth Reddy

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy emphasized the need for the state’s police department to become future-ready in order to effectively tackle emerging security challenges over the next several decades. The Chief Minister urged senior police officials to develop a clear long-term strategy focusing on the next 25 years of policing.

He made these remarks while participating in the Telangana Police Officers Retreat 2026 held at the RBVRR Telangana Police Academy. The event brought together senior police officers from various departments who presented detailed proposals on modern policing strategies and institutional reforms.

Strategic Planning for the Next 25 Years

During the retreat, the Chief Minister instructed the police leadership to analyze upcoming security threats and develop structured plans that would prepare the department for the evolving nature of crime.

Officials from different police wings delivered PowerPoint presentations outlining the future roadmap for law enforcement. These presentations focused on modern policing practices, advanced technology integration, and the reforms required to strengthen the overall policing ecosystem in Telangana.

The Chief Minister said that proactive planning is essential to ensure that the police department remains capable of maintaining law and order while adapting to changing societal and technological conditions.

Strengthening Cyber Crime Units

With rapid technological advancements transforming the nature of crime, the Chief Minister highlighted the growing threat posed by cyber crimes. He directed officials to further strengthen the Cyber Crime Division to effectively address digital fraud, online harassment, data theft, and other emerging cyber threats.

He also suggested exploring the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to detect criminal activities, track offenders more quickly, and improve investigative capabilities.

According to the Chief Minister, modern technology can significantly enhance policing efficiency when used responsibly and strategically.

Learning Management System for Police Training

During the event, the Telangana Police Academy Learning Management System was officially launched. The platform aims to modernize police training programs by providing digital learning modules, case studies, and updated law enforcement training resources.

This system is expected to improve professional development for police personnel by enabling continuous learning and skill enhancement across various policing domains.

Telangana’s Strong Reputation in Law and Order

The Chief Minister noted that Telangana has gained recognition as one of the states maintaining strong law and order conditions. He congratulated the police department for its role in maintaining peace and security across the state.

However, he stressed that the department must continue evolving in order to achieve the broader development goals set for 2047, when India aims to mark 100 years of independence with significant national progress.

Committee to Study Police Reform Proposals

To examine the proposals presented by the police department, the Chief Minister announced that the government will constitute a special committee led by the Chief Secretary. The committee will also include officials from the finance, transport, and law departments.

This committee will analyze the financial, legal, administrative, and technological implications of the proposed reforms before making recommendations for implementing them through legislation if necessary.

Efficient Use of Financial Resources

The Chief Minister assured the police leadership that the government is willing to allocate funds required to modernize the department. However, he emphasized that the resources must be utilized efficiently and produce measurable outcomes.

He stated that public funds must be spent in a way that strengthens the department’s capabilities while delivering tangible improvements in public safety.

Changing Nature of Crime

The Chief Minister observed that crime patterns have changed significantly over the years. While traditional crimes continue to exist, modern threats such as cyber crime, drug trafficking, and organized digital fraud have become more prominent.

He emphasized that understanding the nature of emerging crimes is the first step toward solving them. Without a clear understanding of the problem, attempts to solve it may not produce effective results.

Human Resource Management in the Police Force

The Chief Minister also highlighted the need for improved management of police personnel. He suggested that staffing patterns should be adjusted according to population density and regional needs rather than using a uniform staffing model across all areas.

By rationalizing manpower allocation, the department can ensure that high-population areas receive adequate policing resources.

Technology Integration with ICCC

Another key recommendation involved integrating police data systems with the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). The Chief Minister suggested that all critical policing information should be digitally connected so that officers across the state can access necessary data instantly.

Such integration would enable faster information sharing, improve investigation processes, and enhance coordination between different law enforcement units.

Need for Human-Centered Policing

The Chief Minister emphasized that policing must maintain a strong humanitarian perspective. Senior officers were advised to maintain close communication with field-level personnel in order to better understand ground-level challenges.

He also stressed that junior staff should receive proper respect and recognition, as a motivated workforce is essential for effective policing.

Importance of the Police Retreat

The Chief Minister pointed out that such retreats provide an important opportunity for police leadership to reflect on evolving security challenges and exchange ideas on modern policing strategies.

The last major police retreat was held in 2002, making the current gathering particularly significant in shaping the future direction of the department.

He expressed confidence that the discussions and proposals emerging from the retreat would help Telangana set new standards in policing and serve as a model for other states in the country.

Senior Officials Present

The event was attended by several senior officials including DGP Shivadhar Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Cyber Security Bureau Director Shikha Goel, and RBVRR TGPA Director Abhilasha Bisht, along with other high-ranking police officers.

Their participation highlighted the importance of collaboration between various departments in shaping the future of policing in Telangana.
