Men Must Become Brand Ambassadors for Women’s Safety: CM Revanth Reddy
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy called upon men across society to take responsibility for protecting women and to act as brand ambassadors for women’s safety. He emphasized that ensuring safety for women should not be limited to filing complaints or registering cases but must also become a broader social responsibility.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while participating in the launch event of the “Stand With Her” campaign, organized by the Telangana Police Women Safety Wing at the JNTU Hyderabad campus auditorium. During the programme, he officially unveiled the campaign brochure aimed at promoting awareness and encouraging collective responsibility toward women’s safety and dignity.
Encouraging Youth to Speak Up Against Harassment
Addressing students and attendees, Revanth Reddy urged young people to develop the courage to question wrongdoing whenever women face harassment or intimidation. According to him, ignoring such incidents is equivalent to indirectly encouraging crime.
He advised the youth to respond to harassment against any woman in the same way they would react if it happened to a member of their own family. Such a mindset, he said, is essential to building a safer and more respectful society.
Stand With Her Campaign Launched by Telangana Police
The Stand With Her campaign has been initiated by the Telangana Police Women Safety Wing with the objective of encouraging men to play an active and responsible role in protecting women’s rights, dignity, and equality.
Revanth Reddy appreciated the initiative and congratulated the police department for launching a campaign that highlights the importance of community participation in preventing harassment and violence against women.
Women Empowerment Beyond Safety
During his speech, the Chief Minister explained that women’s safety must go hand in hand with economic empowerment. He outlined several welfare measures introduced by the Telangana government to support women financially and socially.
Under government initiatives, housing benefits through the Indiramma housing scheme and interest-free loans are being provided in the names of women. The government is also encouraging women to become owners of enterprises such as solar power generation units and RTC buses.
The Chief Minister noted that empowering women economically is essential for the state’s progress and long-term development goals.
Women at the Center of Telangana’s Development Vision
Revanth Reddy said that women’s participation will play a crucial role in achieving the state’s Telangana Rising 2047 vision. According to him, Telangana aims to grow into a three-trillion-dollar economy, and this ambition can only be realized if women actively participate in economic and social development.
He highlighted that several key positions within the Telangana police and government departments are currently held by women officers, reflecting the administration’s confidence in women’s leadership and capabilities.
Combating Emerging Digital Threats
The Chief Minister also raised concerns about the increasing prevalence of cybercrimes targeting women. While physical crimes remain a concern, he noted that online crimes such as the creation and circulation of deepfake videos have become a serious challenge in recent years.
To address these threats, the Telangana government has strengthened the state’s cybercrime department and is focusing on technology-driven solutions to protect women from online harassment and digital exploitation.
He stressed that society must abandon the outdated mindset of blaming women whenever incidents occur and instead stand firmly in support of victims.
Prominent Attendees at the Event
The campaign launch event was attended by several dignitaries and public figures. Among them were former advisor to the Chief Minister Vem Narender Reddy, Telangana Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy, Additional DGP of the Women Safety Wing Charu Sinha, and actor Sai Dharam Tej.
Senior police officials, students, and representatives from various organizations also participated in the programme, which focused on raising awareness about women’s safety and encouraging collective action across society.
Through initiatives like the Stand With Her campaign, the Telangana government aims to build a safer environment where women can live, work, and move freely without fear while receiving equal opportunities in every sector.
