Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika Will Ensure Welfare Reaches Every Poor Family: CM Revanth Reddy
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has emphasized that the government’s ambitious Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika programme is designed to ensure that welfare schemes reach every eligible poor family across the state. The Chief Minister stated that the initiative, which will run for 99 days, is aimed at strengthening the delivery of government services and extending support to marginalized communities.
Addressing a gathering, Revanth Reddy said that if government employees treat the 99-day programme with dedication and responsibility, they would directly and indirectly contribute to improving the lives of the poorest sections of society. According to him, the programme has been designed with a strong focus on ensuring that welfare benefits reach Dalits, tribal communities, backward classes, and other economically weaker groups.
Government Employees Key to Welfare Delivery
The Chief Minister highlighted the critical role played by government employees in implementing welfare programmes. He said that officials serve as the eyes, ears, and brand ambassadors of the government, and their commitment determines whether welfare schemes reach the last beneficiary.
Revanth Reddy urged employees to treat the programme as a mission and avoid negligence during the 99-day period. He pointed out that even a single day of inaction could delay benefits reaching several deserving families. According to the Chief Minister, responsible governance and effective administration are essential to ensure that welfare policies translate into real improvements in people’s lives.
Focus on SC Sub-Caste Classification
The Chief Minister made these remarks while attending a felicitation programme organized at the Shilpakala Vedika by the Madiga Employees Coordination Committee. The event was held to appreciate the government’s efforts in providing legal backing to the classification of Scheduled Caste sub-groups.
Revanth Reddy expressed happiness over the gathering and acknowledged the long struggle associated with the issue of SC sub-classification. He noted that the matter had remained unresolved for several decades and had witnessed prolonged debates, committee reports, and political discussions before reaching its current stage.
He also recalled that several activists had participated in protests demanding classification and that some had even sacrificed their lives during the movement. The Chief Minister said he had personally observed the issue for nearly two decades and had supported the cause whenever possible.
Telangana First to Implement SC Classification After Supreme Court Verdict
According to Revanth Reddy, Telangana has become the first state in the country to implement SC sub-classification following the directions issued by the Supreme Court. While acknowledging that classification alone cannot resolve every issue faced by Dalit communities, he said it represents an important step toward ensuring fair distribution of opportunities.
He added that the government remains committed to protecting the legal rights of marginalized communities and will continue to take policy decisions aimed at strengthening social justice.
Plans for Madiga Atma Gourava Bhavan
During the event, the Chief Minister announced that funds would be allocated for the construction of the Madiga Atma Gourava Bhavan. He stated that the project would be taken up in time for the upcoming Ambedkar Jayanti, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote dignity and representation for Dalit communities.
Revanth Reddy also encouraged community members to remain vigilant in protecting their legal rights and to stand united in addressing challenges affecting their social and economic progress.
Economic Constraints and Administrative Responsibility
The Chief Minister also spoke about the financial pressures faced by the state administration. He noted that nearly 1,000 government employees retire every month, requiring the government to disburse approximately ₹1,000 crore in retirement benefits regularly.
Given these financial obligations, he said, careful coordination and responsible financial management are essential for the smooth functioning of the government. He urged officials to focus on preventing irregularities and strengthening revenue collection, which would allow the government to expand welfare programmes and provide assistance to more people.
Education as the Path to Social Progress
Revanth Reddy stressed that education remains the most powerful tool for social transformation. According to him, the progress of Dalit communities and other marginalized groups depends largely on access to quality education.
He stated that the government is working to reform and strengthen the education sector so that students from disadvantaged backgrounds receive better opportunities and resources. By improving educational infrastructure and policies, the government aims to create long-term social mobility for future generations.
Participation of Ministers and Officials
Several ministers and public representatives attended the felicitation programme. Among those present were ministers Damodar Rajanarasimha and Adluri Laxman Kumar, along with employee union leaders, representatives of various organizations, and government officials.
The gathering served as a platform to discuss the implementation of welfare policies and reaffirm the state government’s commitment to social justice, inclusive development, and the empowerment of marginalized communities in Telangana.
