Revanth Reddy Orders Action Plan to Turn Hyderabad into a Clean City
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to prepare and implement a comprehensive action plan aimed at transforming Hyderabad into a clean and well-managed urban city. The instructions were issued during a high-level review meeting conducted with senior officials representing the Tri Municipal Corporations operating under the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE).
The meeting was organized as part of the state government’s ongoing 99-day Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika governance initiative, which focuses on improving public services, sanitation, and urban infrastructure across major cities in Telangana.
Daily Door-to-Door Waste Collection Emphasized
The Chief Minister instructed municipal authorities to ensure that door-to-door waste collection takes place every day across all residential areas under the CURE region. He emphasized that efficient waste management is essential for maintaining hygiene standards in the expanding metropolitan region.
Officials were also asked to promote the use of electric waste collection vehicles for daily garbage transportation. According to the Chief Minister, assigning specific vehicles to designated zones would help improve monitoring and accountability in sanitation operations.
Authorities were directed to establish a system where each vehicle operates within a fixed locality, ensuring that garbage collection services function consistently without disruption.
New Dumping Yards to Be Made Operational Quickly
As Hyderabad’s urban boundaries continue to expand, the government has identified new locations for waste disposal facilities. Revanth Reddy instructed officials to complete the development of newly identified dumping yards at the earliest and bring them into operation without delay.
Municipal corporations were asked to transport waste to the nearest designated dumping yards based on their respective jurisdictions. The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of daily monitoring of waste disposal activities to ensure proper management and prevent environmental damage.
Strict Measures for Construction Waste Management
Construction debris has become a growing concern in rapidly developing urban areas. During the review meeting, the Chief Minister issued clear directions to prevent construction waste from being dumped indiscriminately across public spaces.
Officials were instructed to create dedicated systems for collecting and transporting construction waste within the tri municipal corporation limits under the CURE region. These measures are expected to reduce illegal dumping and maintain cleaner streets across Hyderabad.
Focus on Public Health and Sanitation
Apart from waste management, Revanth Reddy highlighted the importance of maintaining public health standards in the city. He asked officials to ensure cleanliness in neighborhoods and strengthen mosquito control measures to prevent seasonal diseases.
The Chief Minister also directed authorities to ensure that adequate medical facilities remain available for residents, especially during periods when seasonal infections and vector-borne diseases tend to increase.
Senior Officials Participate in Review Meeting
The high-level review meeting was attended by several senior government and municipal officials. Among those present were former advisor to the Chief Minister Vem Narender Reddy, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Srijana, Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vinay Krishna Reddy, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, and HYDRAA Commissioner Ranganath.
The officials discussed the current challenges faced in waste management and sanitation and reviewed the measures required to implement the Chief Minister’s directives effectively.
Through the proposed action plan under the 99-day governance initiative, the Telangana government aims to improve sanitation infrastructure and ensure that Hyderabad evolves into a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable metropolitan city.
