Story
Mrithyunjay follows the journey of Jay, played by Sree Vishnu, who works for a newspaper called Swecha. His job is rather unusual – he collects obituary advertisements for the publication. Despite performing his duties efficiently, Jay dreams of moving into the Crime Bureau department where he believes he can make a greater impact as a journalist.
However, his superiors dismiss the idea, citing his lack of investigative experience. One day, while trying to secure an obituary advertisement, Jay notices something suspicious about a death case. His curiosity pushes him to dig deeper, and what begins as a routine inquiry gradually unfolds into a larger and more dangerous mystery.
As Jay investigates further, he finds himself confronting a powerful adversary who is equally intelligent and determined. The battle of wits between the two becomes the central conflict of the story.
Plus Points
Sree Vishnu is known for his comedic timing and entertaining dialogue delivery, but Mrithyunjay offers him the opportunity to explore a different side of his acting ability. His performance in the lead role is convincing, particularly in the emotional and investigative portions of the film.
It is refreshing to see the actor step away from his usual comedy-driven roles and attempt a serious crime thriller. The motivation behind his character’s investigation feels believable, which adds authenticity to the narrative.
The film also benefits from a strong antagonist. Veer Aaryan, who plays the villain, delivers an impressive performance. His character is written as an intelligent and formidable opponent, and the mind games between him and the protagonist create engaging moments in the second half.
