Employee & Pensioner Unions Meet CM, Thank Him for Landmark Insurance and Health Decisions

Leaders of various employee and pensioner associations met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to express gratitude following the State Cabinet’s approval of two major welfare initiatives — ₹1.20 crore accident insurance coverage and a comprehensive cashless health scheme backed by a ₹1,056 crore annual corpus.

Union representatives described the decisions as a long-pending demand finally addressed, stating that the measures would provide financial and medical security to lakhs of government employees and pensioners across the state.

Accident Insurance and Health Security

The Cabinet recently approved accident insurance coverage of ₹1.20 crore for government employees and pensioners. In addition, a cashless Employee Health Scheme (EHS) with an annual fund allocation of ₹1,056 crore was cleared, enabling eligible beneficiaries to receive treatment without upfront payments.

According to official details, the scheme covers 1,998 medical conditions and will allow access to treatment in government hospitals as well as empanelled private institutions.

Unions Call It a Historic Step

Association leaders stated that the decisions would be remembered as a landmark in employee welfare history. They said extending cashless treatment for such a wide range of diseases offers substantial relief to families who previously faced financial stress during medical emergencies.

Union members further observed that prioritising employee welfare demonstrates administrative commitment and could serve as a model for other states.

The interaction concluded with union leaders reiterating their appreciation and expressing confidence that the schemes would significantly strengthen social security for employees and pensioners in Telangana.
