Swachha Ratham to Be Launched in Every Mandal Across Andhra Pradesh
In a major step toward strengthening rural sanitation, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced the introduction of a “Swachha Ratham” in every mandal across the state.
The initiative is part of the broader vision of “Swachhandhra – Swarnandhra”, aimed at transforming villages into cleaner and healthier communities.
Key Features of the Swachha Ratham Initiative
- One Swachha Ratham in every mandal.
- The vehicle will visit villages once a week.
- Residents can hand over segregated waste.
- In return, they will receive essential household goods free of cost.
The government believes this exchange model will encourage active public participation in waste management and promote responsible disposal practices.
Government to Take Full Responsibility for Rural Waste Collection
The Chief Minister stated that by March 31, the responsibility for rural waste collection will be fully managed by the government. The objective is to build a structured and accountable system for garbage collection in villages.
Officials are expected to roll out detailed implementation guidelines soon, including operational logistics and distribution mechanisms for essential goods.
Community Participation Key to Success
Authorities emphasized that public cooperation is crucial for the success of the initiative. Proper segregation of waste at the household level and regular participation in the weekly collection drive will determine its effectiveness.
The Swachha Ratham initiative represents a step forward in sustainable rural development and environmental protection in Andhra Pradesh.
