SGSW Latest Updates: DDO Changes, Departmental Restructuring and Food Safety Deputation Under Consideration

Several administrative changes related to the SGSW department are reportedly under consideration, including restructuring of Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) responsibilities, departmental reorganisation and deputation proposals for staff deployment in allied sectors.

DDO Changes Expected

According to departmental sources, proposals are being examined to revise existing DDO arrangements within SGSW units. The move is expected to streamline financial administration and improve operational coordination at field and district levels.

Officials indicate that revised structures may be introduced in phases once administrative approvals are finalised.

Separate Wing and Possible Merger

Discussions are also underway regarding restructuring SGSW as a separate functional wing, with long-term plans reportedly linking promotions to integration into respective line departments.

If implemented, eligible personnel could be absorbed into related line departments based on service requirements and promotional eligibility criteria. Authorities are yet to issue an official notification on the proposal.

Food Safety Deputation Proposal

A state-wide proposal is also being examined to deploy approximately 100 to 150 SGSW personnel on deputation to the Food Safety department. The initiative aims to strengthen field-level monitoring and regulatory support mechanisms.

Administrative departments are assessing manpower requirements and operational feasibility before taking a final decision.

Awaiting Official Orders

While discussions and internal proposals are underway, officials clarified that implementation will depend on formal government approvals and detailed guidelines. Employees have been advised to await official communications for confirmed policy decisions.

Further clarity on timelines and execution modalities is expected once administrative processes are completed.
