Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced that a grand sacred complex dedicated to Sant Sri Sevalal Maharaj, the revered spiritual leader of the Banjara community, will be constructed in the Nallamala forest region. The project aims to establish a permanent spiritual, cultural, and tourism centre reflecting the traditions and heritage of the Banjara community.

Addressing the Sant Sri Sevalal Maharaj Jayanti celebrations held at Banjara Bhavan under the aegis of the State Tribal Welfare Department, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to completing the sacred complex in time to host next year’s Sevalal Jayanti festivities at the site.

20 Acres Allocated in Nallamala Forest

The Chief Minister noted that while Adivasi communities have prominent pilgrimage centres such as the Nagoba temple in Adilabad and the Sammakka–Saralamma shrine at Medaram, the Banjara community lacked a dedicated sacred site. To address this long-standing gap, the state government has already allocated 20 acres of land in the Nallamala forest region for the Sevalal Maharaj sacred complex.

He instructed officials to prepare comprehensive plans to develop the site as one of the world’s most prominent spiritual destinations, blending Banjara culture, traditions, and architectural elements, while also positioning it as a major tourist attraction.

Honouring Sant Sevalal Maharaj’s Legacy

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy described Sant Sevalal Maharaj as a spiritual guide who preached peace, devotion, moral living, and the rejection of social evils. He said Sevalal Maharaj continues to inspire nearly 15 crore tribal people across the country and emphasised that celebrating his Jayanti officially is a responsibility of the government.

During the event, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes at the statue of Sant Sevalal Maharaj and also reviewed exhibits showcasing Banjara handicrafts and cultural artefacts displayed by community members.

Infrastructure Push for Thandas and Hamlets

The Chief Minister announced that every Thanda and tribal hamlet in Telangana must have a blacktop (BT) road to ensure proper connectivity. He directed officials to prepare clear action plans to provide BT roads, school buildings, and panchayat offices in every gram panchayat.

He further stressed the importance of providing drinking water and electricity in tribal areas. In forest regions where grid electricity is not feasible, solar pump sets are being installed on priority to support tribal livelihoods.

Commitment to Tribal Welfare and Education

Highlighting the contributions of Lambada and Banjara communities to the formation and rebuilding of Telangana, the Chief Minister said their role can never be forgotten. He acknowledged their consistent support since 2006 and reaffirmed the government’s responsibility to ensure their welfare, development, dignity, and representation in governance.

The Chief Minister underlined that poverty is often linked to lack of education and said the government is committed to providing all necessary facilities for underprivileged children to study and succeed. He urged students from tribal communities to pursue education with determination, assuring full government support through structured welfare and development programmes.

Leaders Present at the Event

The Jayanti celebrations were attended by Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, Member of Parliament Porika Balaram Naik, and several other public representatives and officials from the Tribal Welfare Department.

With the proposed sacred complex in Nallamala, the Telangana government aims not only to honour Sant Sevalal Maharaj’s spiritual legacy but also to create a lasting cultural landmark that strengthens tribal identity, promotes tourism, and supports inclusive development.
