Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has offered a series of key suggestions regarding the proposed alignments of the Hyderabad–Bengaluru and Hyderabad–Chennai high-speed rail corridors, as part of the Centre’s ambitious plan to expand next-generation rail infrastructure across India.
The review comes after the Union Railway Ministry entrusted Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) with the responsibility of preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the high-speed rail corridors announced in the recent Union Budget.
RITES Presents Alignment and DPR Proposals
Representatives of RITES made a detailed PowerPoint presentation before the Chief Minister at his official residence in New Delhi, outlining preliminary alignment options, technical feasibility, and economic considerations for the two high-speed corridors.
The presentation covered route planning, station locations, land requirements, connectivity with existing transport networks, and future expansion possibilities.
Chief Minister Reviews and Suggests Modifications
After examining the proposed alignments and DPR framework, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy provided several suggestions aimed at ensuring optimal connectivity, minimal land disruption, and long-term economic viability of the corridors.
He emphasized the need for alignments that support regional development, industrial growth, and seamless integration with airports, logistics hubs, and urban transport systems.
High-Speed Rail Seen as Growth Catalyst
The Hyderabad–Bengaluru and Hyderabad–Chennai corridors are expected to significantly reduce travel time between major economic hubs while boosting trade, tourism, and employment opportunities across Telangana and neighboring states.
The Chief Minister stressed that careful planning at the DPR stage is essential to maximize public benefit and ensure timely execution of the projects.
Senior Officials Attend Review Meeting
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary K.S. Srinivas Raju, Secretary (Coordination) Dr. Gaurav Uppal, and Executive Director (Urban Infrastructure) of RITES, Lalit Kumar, along with other senior officials.
RITES officials assured that the suggestions provided by the Chief Minister would be examined in detail and incorporated wherever feasible during the DPR preparation process.
The Telangana government has reiterated its full cooperation in facilitating the high-speed rail projects, viewing them as a transformative step in strengthening regional and national connectivity.
