Pawan Kalyan Promises Permanent Solution for Uppada Fisherfolk: Scientific Study, Coastal Protection and Income Growth in Focus
In a major assurance to the people of Uppada, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has announced a comprehensive action plan aimed at providing a permanent solution to the long-standing problems faced by fishermen in the region. During a detailed meeting held with Uppada fishermen, the Deputy Chief Minister outlined the government’s multi-layered strategy, which includes scientific research, coastal protection, income expansion and employment creation for youth and women in coastal communities.
Uppada, known for its vulnerable coastline and recurring environmental challenges, has witnessed severe hardship over the years due to sea erosion, pollution of sea waters, fluctuating fish availability, unsafe fishing conditions and lack of strong infrastructure. The fishermen have repeatedly appealed for a sustainable model that protects their livelihoods while ensuring the long-term health of the marine ecosystem.

Permanent Solution for Uppada Fishermen
Pawan Kalyan emphasized that resolving the problems faced by Uppada’s fishing communities is a top priority for the present coalition government. For decades, the fishing population has suffered due to unplanned policies, unstable assistance and the absence of a structured coastal development plan.
He declared:
“We will provide a permanent and scientific solution to the issues faced by Uppada fishermen. Every rupee spent from public money must have a meaningful outcome. Our government is committed to keeping every promise we make.”
The Deputy Chief Minister underlined that the government’s approach will not involve temporary measures or short-term relief packages, but rather long-term structural reforms.
Scientific Research on Sea Water Pollution
One of the major concerns raised by Uppada fishermen is the ongoing pollution in sea waters, which directly affects fish breeding patterns, fish size and availability, and ultimately their income.
To address this, Pawan Kalyan announced that:
- A scientific study will be conducted to assess water contamination
- Marine experts will analyze the reasons behind declining fish populations
- Pollution sources will be identified and addressed
- Sustainable fishing zones will be developed
