Actress Rachita Ram Opens Up: “One Bold Scene Made My Parents Disown Me as Their Daughter”

Actress Rachita Ram, a well-known name in the Kannada film industry, recently made an emotional revelation that has stirred the hearts of her fans. In a heartfelt interview, she opened up about how a single bold scene from the 2019 film I Love You led to serious turmoil in her personal life even making her own parents question her identity as their daughter.

Rachita, who rose to fame with her debut role as Kaveri in the 2013 film Bulbul, starred alongside actor Upendra in I Love You, a Kannada remake of the English film I Think I Love My Wife. The film itself was inspired by a 1972 French classic. Though the movie performed well and garnered attention for its intense emotional narrative, it was one particular scene that had unintended consequences for Rachita personally.

In the film, Rachita was required to perform a bold scene, which she took up professionally as part of the script. However, this choice did not sit well with her parents. “After watching that scene, my parents told me they no longer saw me as their daughter,” Rachita said with tears in her eyes during the interview.

She went on to describe how deeply the incident affected her. “I was shattered. I held their feet and cried, asking for forgiveness. I wasn’t ashamed of the role, but I was heartbroken by their reaction. I’ve always been their little girl,” she explained.

Despite the backlash from her family, Rachita maintained that she does not regret her decision to act in the film. “As an actress, I believed in the script and the character. But as a daughter, it was the toughest moment of my life.”

Rachita emphasized the importance of her family, calling them her “entire world.” Her father, she recalled, once said, “I can accept you as an actress, but not as my daughter anymore.” That statement, she said, left a lasting impact.

Alongside her film career, Rachita has been active in television serials and music videos. She remains one of the most followed Kannada actresses on Instagram. Her sister Nithya Ram is also a successful actress, known for her lead role in the Tamil serial Nandini, where she played dual roles of Nandini and Ganga.

Rachita’s story reflects the emotional challenges actresses often face when their professional choices conflict with personal values at home. Her candid admission has sparked a conversation about the expectations placed on women in cinema and the courage it takes to stand between tradition and transformation.
